Marc Wanamaker Speaks

He's gonna be a busy guy this week. I've gotten notices for two events:
  • This Saturday, Feb. 5, he joins Karie Bible and Harry Medved at Metropolis Books to kick off their new Arcadia book, Location Filming in Los Angeles (Images of America Series).  My kind of book, if anyone wants to send me a late Christmas present! Starting at 6, all three authors will be signing books and showing clips of films that used Los Angeles City Hall as a backdrop. And at 8pm, join them for a FREE Tour of downtown locations along Main and Spring Streets.

  • "Hollywood Comes to Venice"--a lecture before the Venice Historical Society. I heard Marc speak on this topic a few years ago and it was great fun. Movies have been shot all over the canals, pier, beaches, and arched buildings of Venice, from Max Sennett comedies to Speed and more. He'll no doubt show rare, early 20th century pictures from his incredible collection. (His company, Bison Photo Archives, is a research resource on early movie history throughout the US) The event costs $5, and takes place on Feb.8th (next Tuesday) at 7pm at the Old Venice Police Dept. Bldg, 685 Venice Blvd.
